CANUCKS

FLYERS

Next to the Detroit – Canucks game last week this game may turn into the best game of the year. The Canucks need to play the game they are able to, stay out of the penalty box, and don’t make to many mistakes.

The Vancouver Canucks (21-8-5) play their final game at Rogers Arena in the 2010 calendar year tonight and they hope to go out with a bang by scoring a home ice win over the Philadelphia Flyers (22-8-5). The Canucks have a record of 0-9-5 in the last 14 games they’ve hosted the Flyers having not won against Philadelphia as the home team since January 17, 1989. For defenceman Dan Hamhuis, tonight marks the first time he will meet the Flyers since spurning their attempts to sign him during the off-season.

BLUE JACKETS

DEC.23.10 – 4:00 PM

NATIONWIDE ARENA, COLUMBUS

TV: ROGERS SPORTSNET ONE
RADIO: TEAM 1040 RADIO

The Vancouver Canucks (19-8-5), looking to pick up a point in their eighth consecutive game, conclude the pre-holiday portion of their schedule and their three-game road trip tonight at the Nationwide Arena when they battle the Columbus Blue Jackets (17-13-3). Cory Schneider will get the start in net tonight; he has earned at least one point for the team in every single start he has made (3-0-2) so far this season and even demonstrated some offensive flair in his last outing against the Lightning when he became the first ever Canuck netminder to record two assists in one game.

The game against Detroit last night was one of the best games of the year. Yes we lost, and yes we can say that Luongo should have stopped at least two pucks that got by him, but it was still a great game to watch and I predict the Jackets will go down 5-2 today!

I used a quick method to get the original site up since my main concern was to get all the info and photos I had collected for 30 years digital and online. Now it is time to re-design and make it a great site. Stay tuned. Anyone with info, stories, or photos of the 1978 storm which struck northern BC please contact me by email, hoghead@trainwreckof78.ca.

On a night when one of the greatest players in franchise history – Markus Naslund – will see his number raised to the rafters, the Vancouver Canucks (15-8-3) will also welcome back to the city one of Markus’ long-time teammates, Mattias Ohlund, who leads the Tampa Bay Lightning (15-10-4) into tonight’s game at Rogers Arena.

For only the 3rd time in franchise history, the Canucks will retire a sweater into the rafters. Naslund will be joined by family and friends and many other popular Canucks in their history including Brendan Morrison, Mattias Ohlund, Stan Smyl and Trevor Linden. All attending the game are encouraged to be in their seats by 6pm.

Coming off a 3-0 shutout win over the Blackhawks on Friday, the Vancouver Canucks (14-7-3) return home tonight looking to extend their win streak to five games when they host the slumping St. Louis Blues (12-9-4) at Rogers Arena. The Canucks and Blues each earned two victories over one another in the 2009.10 season series. The Blues have fallen on hard times with just three victories to show for in their last 13 outings (3-8-2).

Predicting a 5 –4 win for the Canucks

CANUCKS 3
BLACKHAWKS 0

Roberto Luongo blanked the Blackhawks in Chicago, stopping all 32 shots from the 2010 Stanley Cup champs. The win is Luongo’s second shutout of the season. Tanner Glass, Christian Ehrhoff, and Henrik Sedin score the Canuck goals.

FULL RECAP

Loungo’s best game this year and the depth of the Canucks is beginning to show. The last four game the Canucks have played have shown their true depth of talent and goal scorers like, Glass, Raymond, Tambellini, and more on the the third and fourth line. It is hard for a team to play against a team with this kind of depth. I am looking forward to the game against the Blues on Sunday
