If you are interested in the history of the Railway in British Columbia, Canada, or the rest of the world please visit us at the Trainwreck of 78 Forum. Furthermore, the Trainwreck of 78 website is in memory of Kenneth Scott Bateman and Francis William Watson who were pushed into the Skeena River by mud on the morning of November 2, 1978. The site is also in memory of Cheryl May Halwas who died at Lake Kathlyn School when the wind blew a tree over and it landed on her crushing her. We love you and will always remember you!

As a team the Canucks need not to get lazy and play like they have been for the next 3 games. Wrap it up with a win over Detroit on Saturday. The Flames and the Oilers should be a win if they play their game. Detroit is angry and does not want to lose to the Canuck again. we need to show them that they live on the wrong side of the Rockies.

JAN.05.11 – 7:00 PM

ROGERS ARENA, VANCOUVER

TV: ROGERS SPORTSNET ONE

RADIO: TEAM 1040 RADIO

The Vancouver Canucks (25-8-5) return home from a perfect 3-0 road trip tonight to play their first game of 2011 at Rogers Arena when they host Northwest Division rival Calgary Flames (18-19-3). The Flames should have no shortage of motivation tonight after being embarrassed by the Canucks in their first meeting of the season by a 7-2 score back on December 1. Despite both players having limited action recently, fans can expect the two team’s number one netminders, Luongo and Kiprusoff, between the pipes tonight.

Not the best game of the year for the Canucks but they kept working hard and Luongo was hot, specially in the last 5 minutes of the game.

New papa and  New Year, but same old Luongo. Only days after becoming a father for the second time, Roberto Luongo put on a show in Denver in the team’s first game of 2011 backstopping the Canucks to the top spot in the NHL.

Everyone is welcome to contribute to Trainwreckof78.ca. A website about the devastating storm of 1978 which caused major flooding in North Central British Columbia. It washed out multiple rail and road ways between Smithers and Prince Rupert, and Terrace and Kitimat. Two CNR men, Ken Bateman and Frank Watson, lost their lives when their train was pushed into the Skeena River by a slide twice near Usk. Cheryl May Halwas lost her life at her school yard when a tree was blown over and landed on her. Anyone who was there and has their story or other info or photos, please contact hoghead@trainwreckof78.ca

I wanted to remake Trainwreck of 78 since I was not very happy with the site since the beginning. Originally I designed it with Sitebuilder, which works well if you do not know much coding, but I was not happy. Have a look at the new site. Feedback is always welcome.

DEC.31.10 – 5:00 PM

AMERICAN AIRLINES CENTER, DALLAS

TV: ROGERS SPORTSNET
RADIO: TEAM 1040 RADIO

The Vancouver Canucks (22-8-5) look to ring in 2011 in style by closing out 2010 with a victory tonight when they open a three-game road trip with a New Year’s Eve clash against the Dallas Stars (22-12-4) at the American Airlines Center. The Canucks will give Cory Schneider his third start in four games hoping the rookie netminder can improve on his 5-0-2 record on the campaign. The Canucks could also get a boost in the form of a returning Mason Raymond (broken thumb) after the winger was medically cleared to play earlier this week and accompanied the team on their current three-game trip.

This game will have a lot to say about who the Canucks really are. If they beat the Stars tonight, the work Canucks is going to send out shivers to those teams who must face them in the New Year.
