The positive post was broken on the alternator probably from over tightening. I took it to Ward’s for repair it which they did. They also put in new bearings and cleaned and checked. I put in new wire to the positive terminal since the existing one was in rough shape and too short. The torque from the motor could have broken it or caused more damage to the harness.
