While the game was low scoring it was fun to watch to Canucks playing solid. They out shot the Wild about 40 to 18. The goaltender saved the Wild from looking worse. It is hard to only play 1 game in 9 days and have the intensity a team does who has just played 5 games. Hey, the Canuck will be winning the Stanley Cup this year though most do not see it now. Give me some feedback.

No, the game against Calgary was not a win. Yes, Luongo let in 3 goals on 7 shots. Yes, the Canucks looked half a sleep during the first 1/3 of the game. However, in the end the Flames were lucky to win. Vancouver kept on getting fasted and more together as a team as the game progressed. Kippy won the game for the Flames. Enjoy winning a game against the team who is going to win the Stanley Cup this year! We are all Canucks!

Maybe he likes his insects and critter well done! Domesticated bird. Fire is at Notch Hill in Shuswap, BC. I have friends living there and I am sure they are not happy about this fire threatening their homes. The birds fine.

The heat wave, smoke, and fires, do not want to stop in BC this summer. To make matters worse you have more employees of Dumb Inc. lighting fires intentionally. I have heard and seen some pretty stupid and mindless behaviour in my life. But, lighting a forest fire in a Province (your home dumb shit) already ablaze and out of control is for sure near the top of the list. Don’t do it asshole, and if you can’t help yourself please jump into the next fire after you light it so it will not happen again by you.

Well, the Okanagan Valley is filled with smoke once again. The smoke is so thick today the end of a block is hard to see and the light has been orange all day. It is supposed to stay this way for a few days. There are so many fires in the Thompson-Okanagan and the smoke is trapped in the valley. It was forecasted to be 36 – 37 degrees today but the smoke has kept it in the cool low 30’s..

People in the Notch Hill area of the Shuswap are on notice to leave their homes if the order comes. Notch Hill is near Sorrento BC on Shuswap Lake. The winds are not going to be cooperating according to weather predictions. The fire season should be starting to slow down but this year it is not. There are 100’s of fires still burning in BC. Well, the Terrace Mountain Fire seems to not want to go away. High winds, heat, and dryness, did not help yesterday as the fir grew another few hundred hectares. Fortunately it spread east  away from homes and structures. Where is the rain we were promised?

Terrace Mountain Fire from Air

The fire crews are getting tired and fighting a loosing battle against the, heat, the wind, terrain, and hard access. It is supposed to rain on Thursday and Friday. Please do! Highways are being closed and people isolated. If there is no rain it will only get worse.

This is a shot of our average Kelowna sunrise this summer. The sunsets are sometimes even more spectacular. However, as nice as they are we need some rain, fast. There are now over 700 wildfires in BC and this is growing everyday. Thousands are out of their homes and wondering if they will in fact have one to go back to. Firefighters are being brought in from other provinces and the US to give our people a bit of a break. We don’t have enough pilots here right now to fly the choppers and planes all day as is needed. Anything you can do to help will be appreciated. We need rain.

Terrace Mountain Fire August 2, 2009

We live in Kelowna on the other side of Okanagan Lake to where the fire is, it is hard to see from one end of the block to the other because of the thick smoke. Even indoors you can taste smoke but when you walk outside it so strong. After this is over all clothes will need to be washed unless you want to smell like you just came out of the bush sitting around a campfire. I believe there are over 500 fires now burning in BC. We could use some rain.
